Profile: Paul Brown Magic
Paul Brown began performing magic professionally in 2002. Since then he’s performed for many clientele, in a huge variety of venues. From performing for Novartis in the old French stock exchange in Paris, to performing at 'Open Wand' in Cellar Door (an old toilet converted to a bar) on the Strand in London. He’s also performed at many private parties in everything from restaurants to living rooms. Wherever he’s performed, he has amazed, surprised, and amused. Many past clients go on to rebook and recommend Paul.
Paul's most famous act, titled Alchemy was born in 2009. He wanted to push magic to it's technical, creative, and artistic limits. It took the Ali Bongo originality award two years running from 2009 and also awarded Paul 3rd place in the Magic Circle Close Up Magician of the year, also in 2009. The act has continued to grow, evolving each year and winning Paul the admiration and attention of his peers.
In 2009 Paul was fortunate enough to go to FISM, the world championships of magic in Beijing, China. Whilst there he saw an old Chinese master magician performing a traditional routine known as the ‘Immortal Sowing Beans’. Paul studied the trick in great depth, and is now the only non-Chinese magician in the world who performs it. Many Chinese magicians say that he performs it better than the Chinese masters. This routine sparked Paul’s love of Chinese magic effects and Paul now works on sharing magic between England and China. He was recently invited to Tianjin, China to perform.
As well as performing, Paul is also one of the very few magic teachers. In 2007 he co-founded a magic school at the famous Davenports magic shop. Paul teaches beginner and intermediate courses. He also accepts private students. Some of his students are now professional magicians in their own right.
